I can't determine if this coin is good enough for a G4 grade or if it should grade AG3 because the rim is almost gone and it has a partial date. Any help is appreciated. - Ralph

Hi Ralph

In my opinion the coin is an G-4,, and one step away from an AG-3 .

with readable date, full rims and lettering the coin techniquely makes the Good grade.

Rick

I would like to see the 19 a bit clearer, but the key date is the "thumb on the scale" that makes it a G-4 in my book. I'd be happy to have such a coin filling the vacuum in my book.

Either grade it has seen it's better days. It is a good coin to hold onto just the same. It has grown in value at a good rate over the last 5 years or so.

Thanks. I appreciate the info. I was hesitant to grade it as G4 due to the 19 in the date being so faint - visible under magnification, but still faint.

Wow tell me about it I had 5 total and I sold some to come up with money to help some out. they were from ag-ef. I can't believe how much they have risen . I think the one I have now is EF..I guess I got lucky with an area to find some of the gems

I hadn't thought much about an increase in value until I read the posts from Dewayne76 and scoutjim99 about the increase in value for this coin. Amazing - back in 2000 it was listed for fifteen dollars, and in 2006 it's listed for one hundred thirty five. What can possibly occur to make a coin that was valued at 15 bucks increase so much in just six short years? Are there that many more new coin collectors today?

Coin collecting does seem to be on the rise, yes. That being said, these are becoming more "collectible" and the values do rise with collectibility, bullion and so forth. If someone were to sell off a collection of them the prices could possibly fall. I doubt if you would see $15 again though. It's a keeper!

I'm with the rest here on grade. I, however, would like to see a little more detail and not quite so flat on the skirt and eagle for a G4.

Two scans at 600 dpi - little better pics, huh? The 9 is a mite more visible, and you can see that the 1 is there, or , at least, part of it.
