I started a thread with some Augustus denarii and though that I would jump ahead a bit and share some more coins of other emperors. This time I have jumped ahead to Vespasian... Firstly, the ever popular Judaea Capta type. This one being unusual in that it has a very early portrait of Vespasian. Secondly, part of the agricultural series... Finally, an example illustrating that it isn't just Rome mint coins that can be attractive. A didrachm from Caesarea, Cappadocia showing Vepasian and Titus. Let's see some more Flavians! Regards, Martin

I have just two Vespasians: This one is a simple design, the IMP XIX modius type (79 AD), made even simpler by severe wear; the emperor's been reduced to a silhouette: Here he is in all his gnarled splendour on my second piece, a Pax Seated type (75 AD) in somewhat better condition:

Vespasian AE26mm Diobol of Alexandria. Dated Year 5 = 72/73 AD. AVTOK KAIS SEBA OVESPASIANOV, laureate head right / bust of Isis right, LE before. I think it is a Milne 427.

Meldercat,
I don't have any Vespasian Alexandrian. I shall have a look through Milne to check the attribution.

Nice dupondii! Though I have a few silver pieces my passion is the larger copper and bronze. I find the detail to be much more attractive.

The second coin looks like a Vespaisan Tetradrachm of Alexandria.

The best way to determine a coins value is the obvious ... sell it. If that is not an option I would suggest doing a little research. The sites I use are https://www.vcoins.com, https://www.wildwinds.com, https://www.dirtyoldcoins.com and try ebay. Don't just look in the US ebay also check ebay UK as well. The fun part, for me, is the research and using the forum to ID coins. My guess is your coin is in the $20.00 to $50.00 range as these Alexandria issues are fairly common. I could be wrong.
