Poll Question
Do you like colorised coins? Personally I can't stand them. They just don't seem to be a real coin, IMHO. Let me know what you think. Steve Results

Don't really care for them to much. I consider those in the category with the porcelain plates and such. Some of them have some nice images on them, but I would rather look at them as the coin they are. As for collecting them as a coin nope.

I tend to look at coins from an eight-year-old's perspective (my son), and let me assure you that there are two things that are guaranteed to capture a kid's interest: 1) Honking, great, big shiny coins 2) Coins with any sort of colour So, judging from that standpoint, then I don't mind colourized coins at all!

I really don't care for colorized coins. I love the look and the feel of the metal of a coin, I think the colors just look out of place, they don't fit. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that none of our circulating coins are colorized that I'm just not used to it, but I think overall it just ends up looking kinda cheap. Now if they did something along the lines of colored metal as opposed to paint on top I think that could have some potential.

I like them.
But there must be some "minting", I've seen some coins with a totally flat surface and everything else is done with paint. That's not what I'm talking about.

I don't care for them, however when the Statehood Quarters first came out my wife subscribed to a service which issues colorized quarters each year. She likes them.

I don't mind them. That doesn't mean that I like them, however. But it doesn't bug me nearly as much as AT'd coins selling for big bucks.

I like some of them but others look horrible. It just depends on the colors and what the coin looks like. So I guess I'm Neutral. Even though I voted for "Like Them"

meh can take them or leave them. With subtle coloring they look ok, others just look cartoonish.

I like them but do not collect them. I loving looking at them in my shop all day but have to draw a line in the sand somewhere else I would have nothing to sell...it would be in my collection.

there are two types of colorised coins. There are those minted coins that are minted and a third party has colorised and image onto the coin...(don't like these) And those coloured coins direct from the mint. (I like these)
Have a look at the new Australia "Clown fish" Dollar coming out in October. It's a beauty.

I think of colorized coins as colorizing B/W movie classics such
as "It's A Wonderful Life" or "All About Eve." Or the short B/W film
cartoon "Steamboat Willie." Just doesn't work for me.
