To bad it is not in the best condition. Still a key date I guess. Others included a nice 62 with a few diecracks on Obv and Rev, 1949 and a 1956. Managed 1 x Rabbit nickel and a 54 Jeferson as well.

Good place keeper for now. The rest of the box yielded maybe 10 keepers. Pulled a few 2001 No P and 2000P.

Thank you for the input. I posted that link in a earlier post from a member on the different 3's in the 1938 nickels. The one I have is the extra pointed 3 variety. :)

That's cool. I've never heard of three varieties.

Here's a poor closeup of my 1938 nickel:

It looks like variety #3 as well.

This begs the question: What are the relative rarities of the varieties?

I have not been able to locate any more information on the 3's in the 38 nickel. It could be like the 1983 Canada cent near and far beads. Neither of the 2 seem to be scarcer then the other.
