mhburton New Member United States 47 Posts	Posted 09/03/2006 08:54 am Well, I heard from Leroy Van Allen and it looks like this is going to have to be chalked up to post mint damage. It looks like this coin was scratched deeply and the the normal wear has rolled the raised areas over into the grooves so that it looks like a die gouge caused it. I got out into the sunlight with a better loupe and can see it as well. I should have ceen this before getting everyone all excited. Wishful thinking got the best of me. It was fun while it lasted though. Thanks for all the input on this. Ya'll are the reason this is such a great forum. I'll just keep looking. There are lots of neat coins left lying around.
