Found this at a show today, thought it was a blank planchet then noticed a Indian head silhouette.I have read about die alignment tests and thought this may be one. Weight is 2.7 grams. Any help identifying this would be appreciated This is not just a worn down cent. it was clearly partially struck. Edited by Snazzypit 11/28/2010 3:26 pm

To be honest, I can't tell if it's what you're hoping for, or just an acid washed coin into oblivion. I would think if it were an alignment strike, it would at least have a rim. So, I'm kind of waiting on the pros like you.

Hmmm...I'll be interested to hear other opinions on this. I see faint design details too. I suspect wear was involved due to low weight and lack of rim/denticles--just one opinion.

, me a pro. Yea I hear what you are saying. I am not sure what I am looking at myself. At the least I can tell it is not just worn down, Where are the experts? I can provide other photos if needed.

LOL - I meant we were both waiting for the pros. They'll be along.

I'm no pro either but I think the weight tells you how badly it is worn. 3.1g compared to 2.7g is a significant loss of metal.

To me it looks like a severely worn cent.

Seems like most think it is severely worn. Not sure what made me think otherwise. I appreciate the help.
