I was at the coin shop yesterday, and was offered Panda's at $31.00. He had several, I think the years were 2000 through 2006. I picked the 2005, because the design looked good to me. But it seems like there are some years worth more than others.

Year 2000 is worth the most, around $150 +

Hold up just a second before you jump on that 2000 Panda! Do some research and learn what a real one looks like. There are probably more fake ones than real ones on the market. This site will help you considerably. http://www.pandacollector.com/rogue.html

Jeff 11 and Tim Stroud Thanks for the information. I did go back and buy the 2000 Panda. For $31.00 I did this before Tim Posted the link. After checking the link, To me it looks like a real 2000 Frosty 1oz Panda. The panda side has the solid frosty apperance, the hair detail looks right. On the other side, the "2" in 2000 is correct, and the steps and other areas of the building look correct. I took a couple pictures, like the 2005 above, the mirror details shows dark (in the pictures). But the coins does look normal as far as Frosty and mirror finish.

I like all the Pandas....I think you did good. $31 is a good price on the Panda series coins IMHO. I picked up two 2002 yesterday for $30 each. I wish he had more....all he had was two.

After reading the link Tim provided all the way through .. I am thinking I have enough Panda's
I still think the ones I purchased are ok .. but I am no expert. I did take both out and weigh them .. they were right. The die markers seem correct.
But .. reading that link and knowing China's reputation .. I think two Panda's are enough.
The two I have, might have to go into the maybe slab one day.

Great, now I have to look at mine! I thought they were counterfeiting only expensive coins. Thanks for the site info.

While no doubt widespread forgeries exist of the Pandas, the ones I have seen up close are fairly easy to ID when compared directly to the real thing.
GoldRush58 - It looks good to me, at $62 for the pair, you have a great buy. I picked a couple dozen up for bullion some time ago - wish I had held on to them!

Bought 4 a few weeks back for $31 each. Higher priced than most other bullion but cool looking coins.

If you read and study the site you will see that the fake Pandas are really easy to spot. Your two are the real deal and I think you should go get the rest. I would.
