Lets see. I bought the 2010 mint set, 2010 proof set and the 2010 silver proof set. Now I need to get bank rolls of each president in these proof sets (P & D). I also need the the shield penny in rolls (P & D). ATB Quarters are all over the place. I need every new set they are handing out now. I need bank roll (P & D) and now I will need the 5oz .999 silver they are offering.....how many different times can I buy the same coin.

I hate being bored at work...

I know what you mean. For a moment I thought you were talking about not remembering your collection. I had that problem with Morgans; specifically the 1898 O. when my wife and I would go antiquing, I'd always forget my cheat sheet telling what I needed. I'd always run into some antique store with a coin display and for some reason they always had a good looking 1898 O. I knew I had an AU coin but could never remember if I had one in mint state. Ended up buying 8 of them all MS63-64-65. I no longer buy coins unless I have my "Brains" with me.

There is one coin in my collection that I know that I have bought twice.

I sold the bulk of my collection in 1973 for some thousands because I needed the money. What I sold included an Alexandrian tetradrachm of Hadrian, with the Nilus reverse. About 20 years later, the coin re appeared for auction, and I bought it again!

Another way of thinking on this topic is: When buying key date, type, or Carson City coins. It never hurts to own more that one of the same coin.

i have thought about collecting the prez series, and the ATB series like you TRIPACES, but it seems like my head would be spinning from all the different combos the mint offered. I often wonder if it would be worth the time and $$$, when I could be working on a different set like my franklins or wash quarters. not to say the ATB and PREZ series "wouldn't" be worth it LATER on down the road, say 20 years. I guess for ME, when I start a new venture, I think of how they might appreciate down the road. So its very hard for me to get started in all the different mint sets out there, satin, proof, silver proof, biz strike, etc.. I dont know. to each his own!

With problems like this I suggest you simply change hobbies. For example change to collecting boats or cars. Difficult to buy duplicates of those.

Ahh my wife is already yelling at me because I have 4 cars in the garage taking up all the space (those hot wheel cars are collectable)....LOL!

If only a boat or car cost $1.00 how many would I have......imagine that. :)

How about not "needing" any of them you don't want? What happened to collecting because you want to collect, not because you think you need to keep up with the mint's schedule of releasing one product after another just to bilk profit out of people who think they have to buy it all to keep up. ;)

Coppercoin...I do love collecting all of these new coins. I enjoy looking for the difference between them all. I guess I was just complaining a little bit as sometimes it is hard to keep up with all the differenences there are. I just wish I had a bigger budget to keep up. :)

And as your budget grows so will the list of products they want you to keep up with. It's a conspiracy, I say...you will NEVER win against the Almighty Mint.
