I am no tone expert by ANY stretch of the imagination.

But this one looks burnt?

I would not have thought about this being burnt... looks like just album toning. This coin appears proof-like, the fields appear as mirrors.
What are the "hairlines" pictured on the reverse. Are those to do a plastic holder it was in, or ...? You can see them spanning from ONE to ICA.
Depending on what those marks are, I would hesistate at 64, feel more comfortable with 63.

Very nice, well struck 1885-O. With better luster than most.I would say MS63 possibly MS64,if it was not for the one deep hit on the cheek I would say a strong MS64.No sure about the fine lines on the reverse either.Looks like it might be marks in the toning from removing it from whatever it was stored in.

Jordan,
Those hairlines are ON the coin. That is what is bothering me about this one.
Here's a closeup:

Hmmm.. I wouldn't suspect it from cleaning, which is where most hairlines are from. Do you know what this coin was stored in?

What do I think? I think I like it.

MS64 in my book, with the nice strike offsetting the cheek marks.

When I bought it, it was in a cardboard 2x2, but prior to that I have no idea. My coin dealer just purchased a large collection of Morgan's from someone and the this is the way the coin was received by him (I know that for sure because I was also there when he happened to be appraising this collection).

SuperDave...I'm glad you like it. I got a couple more where this one came from

Sharp strike for almost any morgan really exspecially the reverse IMHO. I would agree with TLS the lines appear to be in the toning to me. I would say Ms-64 very nice fields except for a few hits
