Can anyone estimate what a veiled head (1893 to 1901) Queen Victoria set should cost? Prices on newer sets would also be appreciated.

About $100, according to KM for 1893-1900, Edwards $100-160, $100-120 for most George V, but $180 for 1936, $90-125 for George VI, and $100-145 for Elizabeths, except $475 for a 1953. Again, all from KM.

I have seen Maundy sets from Victoria's reign sell from $150 to over $250 in the past year. The "young head" sets are usually higher priced, followed by the "jubilee head" sets, and finally the "old head" designs. Nicely toned sets of any Victorian vintage have been selling for a premium recently.

If you are interested in purchasing a Maundy Set, watch out for coins that have been polished. I have run across several sets (and many other older British coins) that were polished by collectors in the U.K.
