New to this site, (pic may / may not attch.)

Is there known varieties of 1827 half dollar with the Square 2 base, but, an upper, Curl "2" (horzonal part of the 2)?
(hard to describe if no pic)

Hi Bynum, and welcome here...... I don't know about all of that square base and curled 2 stuff, but I can tell you this much....Your coin is O-112 (R-3).

Hi Bynum, and

You should feel very privileged!! Your nice, square base 2, 1827 Capped Bust half dollar was attributed an O-112 (R-3) by Mr. Zeewool, King of the Capped Bust half dollar!

And just a clarification for you, the square 2 and the curl 2 refer to the base of the 2 in the number of the date; 1827. Yours has a square base 2 (like 27 of the 28 obverse dies Zeewool talked about that were used to mint these Half Dollars).

There are only two die marriages in 1827 that have a curl base 2 (out of the 49 total): the O-146 & O-147. Both of these die marriages use the same obverse die.

This one is an O-146 (R-2).

Oh please Moe, you give credit where it is not due.....I rely on mental images of these coins (strictly a memorization thing)....Conder has the knowledge of the verbal descriptions and their differentiations, I do not....(that is to say, I can tell you which variety a coin is, but often I cannot tell you why).....zeewool will be fine by the way, no need for courtesy titles with me....As far as missing the CBH thread, something much bigger and better is just getting under way....I'll bet you're gonna like the Morgan thread just as well.
