Bryan where did you get the book listing the 1878 Vams. Is there one that shows varities for all the silver dollars. Went to Barnes & Noble yesterday and they had no idea of what I was talking about.
Becky, just when I thought I was getting a handle on things, wham, knocked to the ground again. But the chart looked great, where do I get my hands on one?

You're looking for the Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan and Peace Dollars, by Leroy Van Allen and George Mallis. Here's one decent place to get it: http://www.brent-krueger.com/books5.html#DollarsI wish I knew where Becky got that rotation gauge. I'd like one myself.

I think Becky used my picture I posted on this forum of my die clash guide (atleast I think it was my picture) and if I remember correctly it was 19.00 and I had to email the guy that made them to order it, but I am looking for his information but am having no luck in doing so. if I happen to find his info I will let you know

SuperDave, the guys name is Terry Forfa, and you can contact him at TJ4FA@hotmail.com and if I remember correctly it was like 19 bucks for the tool and I have used it more times than I can count, it will also let you turn the obverse and reverse design for different degree's of rotation of the dies that clashed

that place sure is HIGH, you could have saved 10 bucks by ordering it from vamlink.com including what they charge for shipping there. I got mine from ebay and I think I only paid around 30 something bucks for it, but anyway it is the best money I have ever spent and have used it more than I can count as well SuperDave did you look at my thread about the VAM17 or VAM17a > I would like to know what you think about it if you dont mind. I guess I will have to end up putting the question on CU because not sure anyone here knows and there is alot of VAM guys there

No, it's my picture. I was lucky enough to receive one of the original ones that Terry made. I checked real quick on ebay, but I'm not seeing them for sale right now. Email him, he is a great guy and one heck of a VAMmer. He is MAD4MORGANS here and at CU.

yeah I saw his post over on CU when he had some for sale on ebay back in May, but havent seen him selling any in awhile on there, thats why I mentioned that SuperDave email him. I guess I could have just mentioned he was Mad4Morgans and SD would probably be able to talk to him directly on here or over there, or even through CCF email. I did email him to see if he had any more of them right when I found the information but havent heard back yet, but that was not long ago

Terry originated that? He's the guy I talked into coming here - Mad4morgans.

Thanks guys, one of the first things I learned in life is knowledge is costly. Sometimes ya get knocked on ya butt before you learn your lesson . These VAMs are driving me crazy, so if the book helps maybe it's money well spent. Hope someday to be able to answer a question or 2 instead of asking.

The book is overwhelming at first so be prepared, there is ALOT of information on a book the size of a large cities telephone book. there are over 200 1878-P VAM's listed in the book alone so you can guess how much information is in the book for each date and each mint mark, because each one of them have VAM's

Yep thats him, should have mentioned that was his nick. But he is the one who made these nice little tools. I have emailed him today to see if he still had any, if he does I have a friend that needs one also

Google to RCI-Rare Coin Investments. This will lead you to VAM books you seek and then some. Hope this helps. P.S. Buy the book before you buy the coin. You will do very well. Knowledge is. Gusp
