Any point in sending already TPG graded ms-64 coins in to Third Party Graders to see if they somehow see it again in new light as an ms-65. The increase in value warrants a try or two. But never having even used one I suppose I'm hoping they are a little more consistent.

Anyways, do any of you resend coins in hoping for a higher grade?

Only if there is a big value jump from 64 to 65 would it be worthwhile to me. It would have to be a strong 64 that would increase in market value over $100 as a 65 before I would even consider it.

I bought a really nice MS62 Liberty Eagle last year. It looked great for a 62 and I submitted it for re-grade and got a 63 increasing it's market value $500. That was worth it. Many (most) are not. Scott Travers has an excellent chapter in his book "Coin Collectors Survival Manual" on this very subject. It's worth reading.

I agree with bherring. There has to be enough spread to cover the costs of submitting the coin. What TPGs are you talking about ... as that matters as well.

I have Canadian 1 cents in ICCS holders. A couple are rare (like the 1965 pointed) but are at ms-64. Considering I paid less than half of trends for it, I was considering seeing what would happen. I suppose it could go down in grade as well. Also just kinda curious to see how consistent the grading is. I'd send it back to the same company rather than hsop it around.

Cheers, thanks for your input guys!
