Question to all. Does anybody have any ideas as to the value of the 2000p Sacagawea Special Rinse dollar coins with a claimed release of less than 10 known? I see the 2001P Sac. with a pop of 2000+ est. known selling on ebay at about $250.00, or so, in gem or near so. However, the 2000P special rinse is a claimed pop of less than 10 Known. Value estimates? The 2000p Chreerios dollar is going nuts (like the Buff speared bison Die Cud at $1000.00+ in MS63 and a current ebay lister at an ask of $4800.00 or so in ms65). Cheerios dollars are a pop 5500. And, at $5000.00 per or so per coin? The Cheerios coin is a transition coin and worthy of a premium. What say all to the special rinse coin? All and any comments right or wrong be okay with me and welcomed. Thanx and God bless all,...Gusp.

Would someone be so kind as to tell me what this is. Never heard of it and the nature of some kind of 'special' rinse raises questions at to who and how they only released so few coins, IF true.

I have heard of the 2001 P experimental rinse sacagawea's but I didn't think there was a 2000. I know the 2001's can sell for over $200.

The Speared Bison is NOT a Die Cud! It is a gouged die which is much rarer than a Cud. The Cheerios Sackies were special because of the DIES used to strike the reverse were changed (eagles tail feathers) prior to striking circulation coins. Anything concerning a rinse is NOTHING more than hype and not worthy of your time or money.

Well, it seems that the Sacagawea dollars are different because they are a gold dollar. The special rinse coins are not gold colored and they are a specially prepared coin made that way by mint. Somebody must think they have some value as the 2001p coins carry a premium on ebay. Again, if only a few got out then they are rare, and probably collectable. As to value? See none for sale. I would like to have a Cheerios dollar. Nice coins. Very different from the others and at 5500 or so made, a low mintage coin. The speared Bison? Cool damaged die coin. Popular and expensive. Thanx. gusp

The Sacagawea coin is ONLY gold in color, not material, so making them a different color is a minor event. If you want some of different color, let me know how many you want and I'll whip you up some. Even I should be able to duplicate this stunt. And I won't won't charge extra for the color. Let's see, a little of this and a little of that. They will be done in no time!

I have personally seen 3 different colored Sacagawea dollars lying side by side from the same roll. Every coin struck is at some time washed in the minting process before the actual striking. Some coins actually leave the mint already toned! Have seen this many times with the new Statehood Quarters so buying into the colored Sackie idea is a pretty hard pill to swallow. As for ebay, while it does serve a great number of purposes, it also brings just the opposite out in many people. The word RARE is tossed around WAY TO FREQUENTLY and the sad part is there are literally thousands upon thousands of folks who buy into the written word. These same people are the ones I see bringing their high dollar purchases into the coin shop only to find out they are worthless or worth very little. They go away extremely mad, upset and down on the hobby in general! I can only say KNOWLEDGE is the key to this hobby, not what some seller on ebay is scamming!
