I am trying to get som information on the Parenti Lizard

I have tried Google USA and Google Australia

All I can find is images or mentions that a number of movies/dvd have pictures of it.

does anyone know where I can get some real information on this great beast that is immune to the King brown bite?

You could try e-mailing the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Monash, Deakin, or Melbourne Universities. They may be able to provide you with some information.

You're saying it right, but spelling it wrong.

Here's the Wikipedia article on the Perentie (type of lizard).

Wow, all those years as a kid reading "lizard books" finally pay off... though I seem to remember it being spelled without the "e" at the end.

According to Wiki, according to some Australian wives' tales, the perentie is immune to the bite of venomous snakes. This folk lore has not been experimentally tested in light of the discovery that the perentie is itself venomous. Hmm. Sounds like a job for "Mythbusters".

Hey rggoodie, that sounds more like a watchdog, particularly if its bite can be poisonous, than a pet for children. Are you folks the outdoor type and wildlife is a natural for you to handle? For me, I have eaten lizard, had hundreds of encounters with snakes, been stung by scorpions, but am still very fearful of those creatures.

Rest in Peace

Larry King Live had a famous zoologist on the other night, and that guy had an Australian lizard which looked very much like the one researched.
