Testing out the camera some more and I figured I'd give one of my two Morgan's a try. Nothing special about this coin at all :). I am curious how it grades though.

You might want to post it in the VAM area too I'm still a VAM novice but wasn't able to easily identify the VAM variant based on your photo. Never know might be something cool (!)

from what I can tell it looks like a VAM-2 with Open "9" but didn't really look to well and this will at least give you a place to start and see if it is a VAM-2 but I don't know the 79's that well. I just don't see anything else in the picture to look for like doubling or anything

Many years ago, Leroy Van Allen & A. George Mallis (" VAM") cataloged over 2000 die varieties of Morgan and Peace dollars. As a result, many folks now collect die variety as well as date and mintmark. Some rare ones can be super valuable.
