Yes - the Morgan is an 81-S. Best looking coin out of a group of Morgans I looked at - got a pretty good deal on it which doesn't hurt either!

Nice set. Guessing you were born in '73?

No, actually 1964. But there is a story to all those 1973 coins.

I started coin collecting as a kid. My dad bought a 1973 Uncirculated Set from the mint and gave me all of the Denver mint coins (eventually I also got the Philly mint coins). Of course, being a kid, I broke them out of the mint packaging and put them in one of those plastic type holders that holds dollar, half, quarter, etc. When I started the 7070, I took them out of that holder and they went into the album.

So - all of those 1973 coins came from my "old" collection.

nice collection! I have been debating what kind of set to collect and think that may be the one. My concern would be that it appears the coins sit open in the book instead of protected inside airtight capsules or slabs -- this could matter for very high grade coins if going for those.

There are plastic slides front and back for the Dansco albums that provide some protection - although probably not as much as an Air-Tite or slab. I would probably not put really expensive uncirculated coins in a Dansco but I think they are nice for circulated collections and/or lower value uncirculated coins.

I have never had a problem with my Dansco albums. Most of my business strikes came from circulation, so that was never a concern. I also have proofs in my albums, but they have never shown any problems. I feel Dansco albums are safe for most coins if kept somewhere with a stable temperature and low humidity. However, I will admit that Air-Tites and similar products are the safest.

I love to see a finished 7070 album because I know how hard they are to complete, especially when you collect other sets as well. I have been thinking about taking out the Gold Page and selling the coins I have in there and finishing up the set and have some extra money left over and maybe some other time do the Gold page again but I am scared I will never have the opportunity to fill it like I did when I first started the album

You only have three coins to go. Leave the gold page alone, you will regret is otherwise!

I know, its just when I see others finishing theirs without the Gold Page I want to get mine finished. Every time I go looking for the coins to finish the set I find either an upgrade to my Morgans that I just gotta have or I can't find one I really like that I can afford at the time to fill the holes
Rest in Peace

I agree with jbuck. The gold page is such a beautiful thing, and your type set is phenomonal ! What you should really do(not that you wanted my opinion) is sell some of your Morgans to finish the type set.

Bryan sell his Morgans? It is more likely I would sell some Eisenhower dollars to finish mine.
