So, I have a question about this coin. Would the worn out dies used for this year account for the difference between the obverse and reverse?
(forgive the dust I'm out of canned air )

VF-20 adjusted for the weak reverse.

Advanced die wear, Denver was good at over-using dies. The reverse looks like many of the 22-D's, they were practicing. LOL

VF-20, I think there's a little cheek/jaw separation and it's actually a pretty nice coin.

I would never have thought you could disregard the reverse like that.
Interesting and actually a cool historic coin.

Yes.. It is amazing isn't it.. if that coin was dated in the '30s, it would barely make VG, maybe, not even that, if your grading the reverse..
