http://coins.about.com/od/coinbuyin...in_fraud.htmEvery new collector just starting out and thinking of buying slabbed coins should read this article. It is head on what we have all been talking about here in our community when a new member asks about SGS graded coins that they see on ebay. Finally, someone who can reach a wider audience has spoken up and spoken the truth to try to help people out and to shed some light on these crooks and others like them. Thank you Susan Headley.

Glad to see this is becoming more common knowlege. I hate to think of all the wasted money spent because of someones ignorance.

And the sad part is ebay won't do anything about it. Just think of all the money they would lose if they were to run this guy and all like him off of their website.

I have several articles about this topic on my site, but in the interest of etiquette, I'll refrain from posting a list of links to my site in my very first message here. ;) You can find most of my "consumer awareness" type content under my "Coin Buying Advice" and "Gold & Rare Coins Investing" categories. If you have any other anti-fraud topics you'd like to see covered, or know something needing investigation and exposure, please let me know! I am currently working on an article called, "10 Surefire Ways to Get Ripped Off Buying Coins on ebay" but it might get cut down to 7 or 8 by the time it's done, depending on how it develops. I'll be around the forums here as time permits, so feel free to ask any questions you might have, and I'll try to help out where I can. Susan Headley

Very good article and welcome to the forum, Susan! I am very much looking forward to future posts from you. I also become passionate when it comes to hype, over-grading, misleading descriptions, and downright fraud on ebay with regard to coins slabbed by bottom-tiered and unranked grading "companies" (not to mention all of this with raw coins). The only problem with the article as I see it is that far too few potential coin buyers on ebay will read it. All too many get-rich-quick buyers go from the Idea stage directly to the Buy-It-Now stage with no stops in between to get themselves educated about what they're buying. Now, if the article were to be posted in the Sports section, maybe it would get more coverage . Fred

Having been among your competitors for your job (I chose to drop out for various reasons, none of them having to do with enthusiasm), I have to say that they certainly made the right choice. The site is looking great, and it's a pleasure to know that the Guide is not pulling punches on the topic of TPG's. You'll find yourself very much welcome here.
