Are there any different varieties with this coin in the P and D mints, if so do you have any pics?

Please expand on the question. Obverse, reverse, mintmark? What are you asking - in detail?

They redid both the obverse and reverse hubs that year and both hub types were used interchangeably for awhile so you can find coins from both P and D with the following

obv........rev
hub of 81..hub of 81
hub of 81..hub of 82
hub of 82..hub of 81
hub of 82..hub of 82

The proofs come with obv/rev hub of 81 and obv/rev hub of 82. I'm not sure if there are mixed hubs on the proofs as well.

Conder101 , can you please explain what you mean by hub? I was told that the 'reverse legends are near the rim and that the reverse legends are far from the rim' on both P and D coins. I'm still trying too find a difference so if you can please post pics.

The hub is the raised design impressed into the die blank to create the dies. You're on the right track, the "hub of 81" were hubs that had the legends further out close to the rim an the "Hub of 82" had the legends further away and there was also some strengthening of the details on Jefferson and Monticello. The space between the rim and the top of the letters is the easiest way to tell them apart. Sorry I don't have any pictures.
