Seems to be some chatter lately in here about the 1909. SO I was wondering how many people in here have one....Tell us about yours. How or where did got yours? Was it an ebay purchase? Found in a lucky coin roll or was it passed down from generations to generations. I do not have one and I know of no one who does - hopefully one day I will "stumble" across one. Thanks all for sharing and maybe in the future I can share my story as well.

I do not have one. But I do want one! I will eventually get one for my Dansco. It should be graded from F to EF, to match the rest of my wheat cents, but I will settle for a G if it still has a certain eye appeal.

Got mine on ebay in a lot being auctioned by an antique furniture dealer. He said he knew nothing about coins and found them in a desk drawer he got at auction. He laid the coins on a piece of paper and wrote the date beside each one. There was one pic for the whole lot.So I knew there was a 1909-S along with some nice capped halves and quarters. I allowed $75 for the 09-S, but won the whole lot for less than my high bid.I was real happy with the silver, and sold it for a few bucks more than I paid for the lot. Didn't realize a had an 09-S VDB until a month later when I took some pics to verify if it was genuine. The VDB was very weak and until I had it on my screen,I didn't see it. Got it slabbed by ANACS as F12 details, cleaned, corroded, and weak VDB.Not great, but I'm still happy with it.

My grandfather gave it to me. He told me he bought it in the 1950's for $35. Today it's in an NGC VF-30 holder. :)

Good luck Scooby and butch. I hope you guys can get one.
Maineman - nice lot you picked up and its funny how you dont realize you have something until you take a picture of it. I am sure the F12 looks great in your collection.

I don't have one either. I'm just missing the 4 key dates and that's one of them. Someday......

I got my original one from a bank roll when I was 11...wrote an letter to coin finds detailing some of my finds and they published it - june 1979 edition. I later traded it and some $ to a dealer to upgrade to a fine condition coin. Going to sell it probably to upgrade my quarters and half dollars.

purchased mine in 2006 from a dealer at one of the Long Beach shows-xf-45, thought it was the last one I needed for a complete set-finally got my entire collection under one roof for the 1st time in 40 years and lo and behold I'm missing a 09-S,12-D, 13-S, and a 15-S.Fortunately not too expensive
