So I went to a local coin shop this past friday looking to pull some bargins out of their foriegn junk bin. The dealer told me that he usually saves up all the foreign coins he gets and sells them all to a gentleman who comes in 2 or 3 times a year. I asked him if I could buy them instead and he agreed to allow me mull through the two boxes of several hundred coisn he had to see if I was interested. I began picking out several coins and asking what price he would charge per coin, instead he told me he would only sell the whole lot at once for $50 or none at all. I decided to take the offer, and when I got home I started looking through them all and just finished today.

Nice finds, I love buying lots like that from dealers. I found most of my best errors from these types of lots.

Hi, XavierOfGreen.. If you picked up a 1925 Canada one cent, it's a key date..... good pick up..the 1902 five cent isn't bad either.

I am in my mid 60's now, and I still have great fun looking through dealers' junk bins. Although I have some coins that are worth thousands I am still actively looking for square coins in junk bins. My square coin collection has nearly 100 different types. I have been looking in junk boxes for these for nearly 40 years! That's patience for you. That's also a lot of fun at very little cost.

While looking for square coins, I picked up a rather nice 1923S quarter in this way. But quite on quite a few occasions, I have deliberately left rare and valuable coins in the bins for other hunters besides myself.

Along the way, I have built a very interesting collection of world coins.
