ebay is the best online coin shop, You must check out the seller and then you just have to pick your price for a coin, put that price in in the last 5 seconds and don't worry if you get overbid, simple. Almost every coin in my collection came from ebay or the mint. Almost every coin I bought off of ebay is worth much more today than when I bought it. The coins you want are on ebay.

I have to say up until a couple months ago, 100% of my coin shopping was done on ebay, it can be a place to find just about any series of coin you are interested in and sometimes at a good price, but you have to really know what you are doing especially with the slabbed coins because of the certain people putting their own coins in plastic and slapping a unrealistic grade on them. If you weren't knowledgeable and haven't really read anything about these companies and only read that slabbed coins are the way to go, you can get into deep trouble quick. When I first started out I bought all raw coins and not long after that I bought my first slabbed coin (which I was lucky enough to get it in a NGC slab) and it was also my first VAM coin (that was noted on the slab). I didn't even know what a VAM was at the time, I just knew it was the first year of the Morgans (1878) and I needed that date for my date/mm set. Well as most people on this forum know 1878 VAM's is my collecting interest right now and it all started with that first slabbed coin from NGC. I started doing allot of research on slabbed coins before I went full force into buying slabbed coins, I did buy a NTC Morgan and compared it to the NGC and PCGS coins I had already bought and noticed it just didn't meet the standards I was looking for (no matter what the slab said) so I stuck with the 2 I had been collecting. I then bought an ANACS coin while looking for VAM's and noticed it was right up there with the grade level I was used to so I also have bought a few of theirs, but a person uninformed and one that is just getting into the hobby and have people telling them slabbed coins are a safe way to collect until you learn how to grade can really get discouraged when they do learn more and more about the hobby, and these slabs have probably made more people quit the hobby all together than many people want to think because they just got so discouraged that they have been taken so easily and don't know what to trust so they just quit all together. I had some buys when I started on raw coins that I just knew were High grade coins and I even sent allot to grading companies (to the top 3) and found out they weren't anywhere close to what I thought they were, but that's how I learned allot about grading and I still have allot more to learn

I have never had a problem with this seller, I find his prices good for silver coins plus he ships across the globe. He also sells on ebay but if you sign up on the email list you get better prices and good special deals. http://www.dsscoinandbullion.com/

Thanks everyone! Irishraider and I were on the "same page" so to speak. Just looking for an alternative to e-bay. I have a wonderful local dealer but, sometimes I just enjoy shopping at home. I trust all of your dealings with any of the sites listed and will try them out. I can't imagine that e-bay is the ONLY place to shop (for coins) anymore! That's pretty sad if you think about it!

I've purchased some of my Morgan dollars from Jack's Silver Dollars - https://www.cen.quik.com and am happy with the quality of the coins I received. His prices aren't bad, and if there is a minor problem with the coin, he includes it in his description.

Post Script to my last message - might be easier to just type Jack's Silver Dollars into your search engine - get there alot quicker.

This is a really informative thread. I was impressed with David Lawrence Rare Coins. I know he's been around a long time and is trustworthy. The site is easily navigable, and the photography is excellent. There's no doubt as to what you will receive. I think I'll be able to get a couple of the Morgans I've been needing there. My contribution would be Virg Marshall III in Nebraska at https://www.virgmarshall.com This is truly one of the old Mom and Pop organizations and has been around for almost 50 years. They mostly deal in recent numismatic publications (Red Books, Blue Books) at a discount and postpaid. I noticed they have the recent Vol. 2 of the Cherrypicker's Guide at a discount and postpaid. Their specialty is Lincoln cents. They normally have recent coin issues available singly or in BU rolls. Since I haven't really been actively pursuing the quarter series, I'll probably use Virg for a source of the BU singles. Most are 50 cents each up to a dollar each. Five dollars postage for any coin order, so order more than just one item at a time! They carry lots of coin supplies as well.

OK, I'll add one: http://www.cheapslabs.com/One thing to keep in mind is that you're not necessarily bound to the quoted price at one of these online dealers. Do your due diligence; look up Heritage or Teletrade auction results for similar coins, and don't be afraid to make a reasonable counteroffer for a coin in their inventory. On the other hand, if you lowball them too hard, they won't deal with you at all. Of the preceding listed dealers, I've only had occasion to buy from David Lawrence and Heritage (I did a Buy It Now from them). Both were responsive and quick to deliver a quality product. There's a couple on Bryan's list that are new to me, and they're getting searched this afternoon.

http://royaltycoins.com/I've bought several coins from Royalty Coins and not been disappointed. He sells a lot on ebay as "buy it now", but has some other stuff on his web-site. He has clear pictures and his prices are usually fair. http://www.anythinganywhere.com/index.htmI found this site about a month ago, but haven't shopped here yet. I posted a thread asking about this guy on CCF around that time, but no one replied. Pros: He has a return policy and lifetime guarantee on authenticity. Prices seem fair and he states that he is willing to negotiate on coins over $100. There is also a good information section on this site. Cons: His web-site is difficult to navigate. There are far more coins than pictures. If you read some of the stuff he writes you come to the conclusion that he could be crazy (I suppose that some people feel the same way about me). If anybody knows or has bought anything from this guy, I'd like to here some feedback.
