Are these coins entering circulation to any extent, or are they still in storage? Just wondering.

I roll search nickels and find 2009 ones all the time. I've haven't really paid too much attention to how many I find, but it's several per box at a minimum.
Don't know about dimes though.

I roll search both nickels and dimes and I've only found one 2009P Roosevelt (actually got it in change) and have found about ten 2009D Jeffersons but no P Jeffersons yet even after searching 2,000 nickels. Several other local collectors ended up buying their 2009Ps. We do tend to see more Denver than Philadelphia coins here. macfish/Jonathan

This happens almost every year by me. The latest ocins just don't appear in change for a few years. Then suddenly, as if by magic, my change is so full or last years coins, it's as if that is all there is. Lately I've been finding a flood of 2009 coins all the time and yet a few Months ago, nothing.

I do a fair amount of nickel searching, and so far, I have yet to see any '09 nickels in my parts.
I edge check my dimes looking for silver, so I couldn't say if I had any '09s or not. I haven't gotten any in pocket change.

I hope the 09s get more reasonable, I need to get some but I refuse to pay the appalling prices of last year.

I have found 1 or 2 nickels so far, but no dimes. It appears that the 2009 coins have become somewhat obscure.

Well, first of all, 2009 (P&D combined) is the lowest mintage numbers of the Jefferson nickel since 1959.That's enough said about the scarcity of finding them in "the wild". Mintage for 2009 2009-P Jefferson nickel 39,840,000 2009-D Jefferson nickel 46,800,000 Total 86,640,000 Good example: Here's the figures for the two previous years (2007-2008)2007-P--- 571,680,000 2007-D ---626,160,000 2008-P ---279,840,000 2008-D ---345,600,000This is why nobody is seeing the any 2009 issues of Nickels. The total combined circulation production for the 2009 Roosevelt Dime was 146 million across the Philadelphia and Denver Mint facilities. This, also, is the lowest by far in DECADES for the Roosevelt dime. So, again.....no surprise about the difficulty in finding them "in the wild". It's not a matter of a bunch being in storage, so much as there just AREN'T ANY TO BE HAD ! The few that are "out there" are nabbed by collectors when they find them for sure.

Who can say on "the future value" though...."rarity" doesn't always equate to high value.... But I know that I'll be keeping everyone I can find.
