Hi I bought a 1922 Peace dollar on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWNX:IT

I'm wondering what the grade is, whether it's been cleaned or if it's fake.

Thanks

I'm kind of suspicious with no reverse picture, but the obverse pic shows a high AU coin. I wouldnt have bid because there's no reverse pic. it could show anything- damage, residue, nothing, ect

It looks fine and genuine to me, I agree with Adam on the high AU. Assuming the reverse is similar to the obverse it looks like a no problem coin to me. IMO you might have overpaid for it slightly, but only by a little. No big deal, and judging from the image it looks like a nice coin.
Rest in Peace

Counterfeit (not altered) Peace dollars almost always look fake and are easy to spot. 1922 is a very common date so there is no reason to alter one to be a 1922. The color looks natural and it appears to be uncirculated but may be AU since the picture isn't especially great. It will at least be AU58 assuming the reverse is comparable to the obverse.

I will say MS63 based on obverse seems to have full cartwheel luster in the photo and light marks

Nice coin with original surfaces, I wouldn't worry about it being fake.

IMO, This coin is circulated, has rub or wear on the hair/face of Teresa, very baggy marks, while small, multiple. The fields are not a crisp, clear finish, but grainy and not consistent with the luster from the mint, I do not think the coin was cleaned, I do think there is an odd look to the coin, I would grade the coin, AU55-58, PROVIDED IT IS NOT ALTERED, I believe you will know this for sure, once in hand.......I do hope the reason for no picture on the reverse is not a problem......
