I notice that the auction had ended. Could not get an ebay picture. Not to worry.

You say you bought it. Post an image when you receive it. We can then still give you an opinion.

A quick download & upload: Here you go!

This appears to be a nice 1837 (head of 1838) Large Cent. It looks to be an F-12 grade which in my 2010 RedBook goes for $32.

I think you did good!

The coin appears to have a rim bruise (dent) visible on the reverse at the 9:30 position and a smaller bruise directly across the coin at 3:30. If so, the value is slightly reduced because of the damage. You always want to watch for rim problems (and other issues!) on large cents since they are very common.

I wonder however if these marks are evidence of a slight planchet clip which as a mint error might increase the coin's value. The larger mark might even be a Cud caused by Die Deterioration.

Welcome to early Copper collecting! These are fascinating coins for sure.
Rest in Peace

I think you did fine. The coin looks to have a bit of a green tint to it, if this is from PVC, the coin may benefit greatly from an acetone bath.

Great pick-up!

I think the area on the reverse at 9:00 looks more like a Cud. That would be a nice bonus.

Still plenty of e-bay treasures out there waiting to be found. Thanks for posting!
