CDN shows a huge jump between VF and EF for this coin, and it doubles again for AU. In hand, this coin looks EF-40 to me.

Would probably go EF45 if not for the spotting. I would net it down to EF40.

Thanks again coppercoins, everything I see about this coin tells me that it should grade EF.

Can you, or anybody else tell me why there's such a huge jump in the price from VF to EF with CDN?

ask price for VF is .50...EF is 3.50 In my opinion, that's one heck of a huge difference.

While this date is not especially rare, it is slightly more scarce in higher grades. There is a huge demand for early Lincolns that are EF and above.

Thanks cwb8539, your explaination makes perfect sense.

I guess I'm having a tough time wrapping my brain around the fact that someone would toss a coin like this back into circulation. lol

I need to keep reminding myself that not everyone enjoys searching/hunting/finding Lincolns the same way that I do.

If you look at Numismedia and scroll through the dates, you'll notice that just about all pre-1934 Lincolns make significant jumps in price from VF to EF. It seems to be pretty popular to build Lincoln sets that are MS from 1934 and on while keeping pre-34 dates in the EF/AU range since there are a number of pre-34 dates that get incredibly expensive in MS grades.
