I just bought this coin from an antique shop. Can anyone help me identify it? I know it's from the Byzantine Empire but beyond that I'm not sure.

I don't think it is a coin, it has no legend on it. That could make attribution difficult.

However, by the looks of it, it may be contemporary to the Byzantine era, and probably from Eastern Europe.

Romanus IV, 1068 - 1071 AD. Class G bronze follis.
Christ, nimbate, with pallium and colobrium, with hand raised in benediction, and holding scroll. IC-XC. / Facing bust of Virgin Mary orans, nimbate and wearing pallium and maphorium. Wonderful, detailed portraits of both Christ and Mary! 28 mm tall. #710: $175 SOLD

Yes! That is it. Thank you! I thought both sides were Christ. I didn't know the other side was the Virgin Mary. Neat.
