Went to a local show at one of the VFW halls.

Picked up a 2009 silver proof set for $53. The melt value of the silver and the face value for the non silver coins comes out to $52.01. I think I did ok.

Another dealer had a 2009 silver quarter set for $35 and an Onza for $32.5. Asked what the best he could do price wise. Expecting him to knock off maybe a buck, possibly a skosh more, he says $55. I asked if he was sure, and if he did his math right. He said "Yes, it's one heck of a deal". I didn't need to be told again.

Picked up 3 silver Ikes that had been separated from their original packaging for $7 each. Melt is currently $9.76

Also got a pair of '74 German 5 Marks for $6.5 each. At .2251 ASW each, that works out to $28.87 an ounce.

I live in the Chattanooga area and I've had a hard time finding any shows close. I've actually held off on some coins that I can afford online until I get to compare prices at a show.

As you now find out there is nothing like a coin show for good deals on coins. AND no postage, handling, insurances, lost in the mail, etc.

Very nice finds Bowfin. I'm surprised that more people are not searching for the exact same opportunities. These are the highest prices we have seen on metals in over 30 years but people are not really on top of this. Great opportunity for the educated.

Good stuff. You already know from my other thread that the silver proof coins are overlooked in a big way when buying silver. Let the others keep buying the "junk" ones that have lost silver content from wear, and lets keep these a secret!
