I recently came across 2 1970 S Lincoln pennies. Being kind of new to collecting coins I need some clarification on these. I understand there are 2 types of 70 S Lincolns. I read that one has a "high" 7 and one has a "low" 7 meaning that the top of the 7 on one is level with the other numbers and the 7 on the other is lower than the other numbers. I have also seen reference to a small date and a large date. Do the two terms mean the same thing? Which one is the rarer? These were found in a jar of pennies I've had around for a while.

Are you a new Lincoln collector? I suggest you buy yourself a 1970-S small date so you can have a reference coin. They are fairly cheap MS RED (about $50-$75) and it's a key date to the Memorial series. Once you have one and keep using it to compare others to, you'll spot the small dates with ease. If you ever need the money, you'll get at least what you paid because these are in constant demand.

Odd that coppercoins didn't jump in on that one. If your interested in a real lot more info on Lincoln Cents go to his web site on https://www.coppercoins.com Also has a few books on those coins. Lots of great photos too.

I get a lot of rolled pennies from the bank and come across 1970-esses a lot and didn't think much about them. What are the key dates in the memorial series?

I just found a bank roll of 1970s BU small date pennies. Offers to buy/sell/trade are not permitted. Please read the rules here. Edited by Forum Mom to remove offer

Somebody is selling a roll of BU 1970S small date pennies on ebay for $2600, or make offer, they have two offers so far, he's got a ton of other stuff (pennies), listed. He also has a 1970s small date MS65 ANACS for $90. $$ I just don't understand the value of .. I guess I'd rather buy silver anything than graded wheats.
