I was keeping an eye on it till it went to $150 with 2 days left...

Someone else buy it and gift it to me! lol. But I figured I'd share it because of how nice it is. The seller has other pictures that they can send you if you request them also.

i am suspicious that the reverse of the coin is on the front side of the slabbed holder... maybe someone tampered with it and put it under a flame? or am I way off?

That's a very good point. I couldn't tell you why it's that way. I've seen a few (but not many) heat treated coins and the colors don't usually look as transparent. I would have took a gamble on it for $20 or so, but not at this price

I was about to ask the same thing, that is if it's legitimate, will the grading put the reverse
showing (since that side is the highlight)? would you need to ask them to?

You can request to have the reverse slabbed on the label side, it is typically done with monster toner reverses such as this one or coins where the reverse is the more important side( State Quarters for example).

Why is this coin selling for so much? Is it because it's toned nicely? Numismedia puts it at $6.00.

It's deffinately the toning. I can't see spending that much on such an extreme toner without seeing it person.
