This seller's coins often show up on my ebay Lincoln searches. The seller is vette1986. He sells lots of coins on ebay and in fact I have bought a couple of coins from him in the past and have been happy with them. However, a lot of his earlier Lincolns all have the same look. So...opinions on this coin? Whizzed? Otherwise tampered with? Or ok? Here's a link to the auction. Opinions welcome! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl..._1131wt_1139

there seems to be a weird texture in the fields, almost like the coins that I find metal detecting and tumble in a rock tumbler to get them clean.

In my opinion, the surfaces are not original. I don't know what process was used, but it has definitely been cleaned, dipped, or otherwise tampered with.

So over-exposed or post processed you can't tell squat. You're rolling the dice! It could easily have been harshly cleaned.

Photos are decieving at times. The seller has a good return policy and free shipping. His feedback isn't perfect, but if you look, it was mostly buyers being idiots. Not contacting him with any problems. So, if you really want the coin, I'd say go for it. At worst it would cost you 44 cents to return it.

Actually not easy to tell since the photos appear overexposed. Makes the coins appear to have an extensive shine but in real life may not. Might just be excessive lighting or the coin was actually polished or cleaned excessively. I'd really pass on taking a chance.

years ago when they were first starting out Vette was a really good seller I bought several lots from them, in the last few years they have gotten really big, and their products have become well somewhat less dependable, these are really bad pictures, if the rest of their pictures aren't this bad then I have to believe these ones are this way on purpose.
I would look for a coin I can see well in the pictures I personally wouldn't need the return headaches.

Yeah, I typically stay away from the question marks like this - not worth the risk. I'll watch it and see what it ends at.
