I have inherited this coin/medallion from my father, it has been in the family since at least 1851 when my family immigrated to America. I am trying to find an exact/estimated time period in which to date it to. local dealers think it might be a medallion since there is no writing on the face or the back, they all agree that it is roman in origin. it is very worn enclosed are pictures of the face and back. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, missouri, welcome to the forum!
Actually you have an old British copper coin (whose coins were forever influenced by the Romans).

On the obverse you see a picture of king George III, on the reverse - sitting figure of Britannia.

By the size (compared to your fingers) I believe it's a farthing, or a quarter of a penny, (check the diameter, it should be 21-22 mm.). This effigy was used only on the coins 1806 - 07, with 1806 being more common.
