With many to chose from? Anyone here have one or two to recommend. And is this subject to conventional physical gold and silver tax down the road?

I think I would shy away from PM funds and take a real hard look at Natural Resources funds. But that is just me. Some will carry Gold and Silver mining shares within the fund as well as Nat gas, Oil, and other mineral and energy stocks giving you a more diversified fund that is less volatile.

There are ETFs covering gold, silver, platinum, and palladium if you're looking to just invest in bullion. Like GLD for gold and SLV for silver. There are more ETFs for industrial metals like DBB that holds copper, aluminum, and zinc.

If you want a fund with stocks check out TGLDX or FGLDX.

Don't know anything about a physical gold and silver tax but these are subject to capital gains.

Funds, I would not recommend. I agree with RPT, find an ETF or two. Check out PSLV, it has performed very well for me, and is backed by physical silver. You may also want to check out some mining companies, and build your own portfolio. Some I recommend are GG, HL, Great Panther Silver (forgot symbol). Great Panther also opened up a website selling bars and rounds from their mining operation in December. Of course, Do your own Diligence!

SLV for Silver and IAU for Gold. Both ETF's that can be traded like a stock.

Both are managed by iShares, hold the physical metal, and have very low fees.

NONE!!NONE!! IF YOU WISH TO INVEST IN PRECIOUS METALS, BUY FROM A LOCAL dealer or whatever. A place where you can actually touch, hold and examine what you are actually buying.
