Hi folks,

A co-worker gave me a bunch older foreign coins today.

Can you please let me know what grade you think this coin is?

A little too much brightness from the flash, but it looks like a solid Fine to me, possibly cleaned? Needs more feather detail to get to VF in my opinion. Very nice solid key date coin! Congrats!

This coin is a bit too clean of circulation grime for this grade, particularly in the date area.
Since feather detail can vary by strike, I'd like to see clearer shots of the headband/LIBERTY area to grade.
Accepted criteria for a VF20 is the presence of the bottom headband border. Yours is F15 or better to my eyes.

Putting a 1903 and the 1872 side by side, the Liberty can't be read on the 1872 by my old tired sleepy eyes like it can on the 1903.

Any other comments/advice, considering the coin did not cost me anything to acquire.

It's a semi key date for the series and even in it's condition is in demand. There looks to be some corrosion and a larger hit on the band, but overall, not too bad. I would say F15, but maybe higher if you can get a better picture of the band and feathers.

I was going to say F12 details just based on the headband.

1872 is a really tough date. I'm thinking F12 or maybe F15 details.

I think this coin is VG10, if you can see all the letters of liberty in the headband
then it moves up to fine and beyond. This is a tough date in very nice shape and should bring
$100-$200 anyway. I know I have a big hole in my collection where that one would fit nicely;)

The cleaning and staining may bring the value down somewhat though.

I think a few people have that hold in their collection but I don't think I will be selling this coin.

I think Fine12 details with the hit in the headband most likely a VG10, Nice coin kena.

I agree with F12 details. I think I see interesting die cracks on the reverse. One on the top of the shield, but a more interesting one at about 1:30, and I'm interesting in knowing if it rejoins the rim somewhere farther down the coin ...

I agree with F12. Scarcer date in the IHC series.

For me to grade an IHC fine it needs to be full liberty. Not clear if it is so I give it a VG-10. Still a nice grade for a semi key IHC.
