I'm pretty sure it is the size. I understand a little about the paint thing... I'll try that after the Bears are finished with the Seahawks. Thanks so much. If I can't get that to work, I'll try the yahoo thingy. LOL

The whole process is not user friendly to say the least. Trying to figure it out on your own or following some directions can be very frustrating.

I'm a Network Admin and have a BS degree (in more ways than one ;) and the best advice I can give is to find someone who can show you how to do this. Trying describe to someone over the 'net without watching over their shoulder is a royal pain.

Picasa and photobucket (which is what I've used for years) are the easiest I've seen, but I've never messed with yahoo.

Good luck.

And GO PACKERS!!

G'day, size of your picture, as a computer file, is usually the problem with uploading.
I learned a two-stage process:
1. make a copy of your pic to work with and crop it down to the coin with minimum backround.
2. look in your photo-management program for a command "re-size" or similar; then use it to manipulate your cropped pic down to 100kb.

On the left of this screen, look for "Tutorials", and under that "Uploading Photos".

Peter, unfortunately I think you're right. Usually when I have to hook something up, or in order to get a new thing to work I have to sit on the phone with my pleasant East Indian Dell techie, LOL. Sometimes they can talk me through it, and sometimes they give up on me and just take over my computer.
I am not a quitter, and I understand the premise here , but after I tried off and on for hours yesterday, until like 3am. I throw my hands into the air and back away I'm afraid . very disappointing. I had no problem loading the pic on my navy for mom site, but It wouldn't let me transfer it here, same msg.
not a total loss, I have all the coins I wanted to photographed, and I'm fairly happy. They can be zoomed in on to search for tiny marks, look pretty good , through some picked up a little yellow tint, most are true, and I'm going to take them to Walgreens and have them put on a disk.
One more question, I have taken everything earlier than 1964, with the exception of pennies, and JFK halves. Oh and wash quarters of which I have a ton. I do have those cataloged. Do I need to take them as well? or only if I run into something like a key date?

holy bat image I did it. I had help, my grandaughter, called and I read some of your directions to her. The problem, was, I thought photobucket was a thing, not a place. ( sheepish grin). she told me what to do, in between howls of laughter. LOL.
thanks to all of you. now, how did I do? is it ok? I see some on here that are bigger and close on something, next I will have to learn how to do that I guess.

Sunny, I am away from home and posting from my cellphone, so I can't help much tonight. Starting tomorrow, we're going to turn you into a Windows geek.

ok, whatever you're doing have fun. My husband, Dennis, and I are going to, " Rare coins of Raleigh tomorrow".
we'll be speaking with a John "Doc" Yancho about the collection and turning over scrap silver and gold( NO COINS!). So I may not get back until later tomorrow evening. I should be up to 50 posts by then too. This is a blast! LOL.

Tomorrow will be "Windows 101." Whenever you get to it is cool; I used to teach this for a living so it's a labor of love.

There are 3 topics to cover: Windows file management, editing pictures for publication and saving pictures online for publication. I've been wanting to do this anyways; consider your request to be the inspiration.

As I stated before, I'm a Network Administrator, anything I can do to help, Dave and Sunny, just let me know.

Few people realize just how important file management really is.

I was gonna post about the image tags from photobucket, but I'll let SuperDave cover that in Windows 101.

btw, nice Morgan, Sunny.

Congratulations!

[Edited to queue the dancing fruit]

Now, if you use the little Mountain thingy with the blue arrow and put that Photobucket link you pasted in between the bracket thingies, you can get this:

Bear with me, guys. I'm so far extended for time at the moment that it might take a few days to do this one. It'll be a new topic here in the Photography forum, entitled OK, you took a picture. Now what?.

thanks Ken! Love the dancing fruit. was this a self portrait? LOL.

So guys, I'm fried today. I started reading on the VAM site , the 101 tutorial they offer. taking notes on attribution. If I read it, and write it, I usually learn it faster. Then the key Vams of the obverse, now I have to go back and do the reverse.
went to the coin shop today. Sold some old gold stuff, broken chains, rings and stuff from Old girlfriends that my husband doesn't wear. ( ha ha, NO! he can't get the rings on his finders any more.) I did sell my wheat pennies at 2.5 cents per, but no other coins.
The one question I had on my 1922S Peace the girl couldn't answer. she'd never seen one like it. It has some wear off the feathers, but she thinks it might be from the case it's been in. It's so clean, she thought it had been cleaned, but when she looked at it under the microscope, and through the glass, she said NOPE! not cleaned. I told her I'd been trying to prove for 2 weeks that it wasn't a really good coin, and she told me she couldn't either and the guy that would have known was gone for the day. GRRR!She did say it was beautiful, and she's right...it is! I wish I had my disk back from Walgreens so I could show you guys, maybe tomorrow.
It was a great experience, I think I made a new friend,( she collects seated and Morgan dollars.

So now, I think I will wait for a coin show that someone on here is going to and have them look at my beautiful coin. who should that be?
