Doesn't look like a 67 to me. But it does appear to have a nice clash die. I believe you can see the "N" clash along Liberty's neck. Way too much chatter to be MS67.

MS63 at best. SGS is a non-reputable 'garage slabber' who grades all his coins with ridiculously high grades. 90% of his coins are graded MS70 when in reality, are 62-63 coins. Welcome to the CCF :-)

to the forum! I agree with the above posters. I'd say the coin is MS63 at best. SGS is not a reputable third-party grading service.

Thanks so much. I should have investigated more before I bought it. Oh well, lesson learned. The buy it now price was $4,000 so I thought I got a steal. I'll send it to PCGS and have them re-evaluate. How can they get away with this scam? The paperwork says "Guaranteed" or we will pay full price of the grading value...

eternitycoin ( ebay) 100% Feedback so foolishly I trusted the listing. SGS Guarantee: MS-67 SGS Certifies the authenticity of this Legal Tender and Guarantees Such for the full purchase price for the life of this piece. So what that says to me is that they certify that the value of the item is what MS-67 would state, correct? Or is their certification a smokescreen just stating that they certify that it's a real dollar? Wow, I'm getting upset...Any guesses on the possible value of this coin? Paid over $400 :(

Nclose, Check out this link: http://reviews.ebay.com/Not-all-gra...000000689343From the site Quote: I, personally have sent coins from SGS in to NGC to have them regraded and put into a NGC holder. the SGS grade was PR70 (Proof 70) and it came back as PR66. 4 grades lower. This is typical with coins graded by the newer companies. They will offer super cheap prices, very fast turnaround times and the like. Do not be suckered. Do your own homework. Go to a couple of coin shops and ask them who grades their coins. Who do they trust to have holder their coins. I personally would not get a graded coin in anything other than the big 3 unless I was absolutely certain that I knew what the grade really was and if it was priced at thatlevel.

Geepers ... I hope you did not pay anywhere near the BIN of $4000 for this SGS 'graded' coin. Education is the key for the collector ... so here are some actual CDN wholesale (Ask) prices for an honestly graded 1880-O Morgan .... MS63 .... $315 MS64 .... $1,375 MS65 .... $24,000 MS66 .... $55,000 MS67 .... $72,000 Sooo .... this is at best a $315 coin in MS63 ..... hard to imagine someone selling an honest MS67 for 'only' $4,000! No worries I say ... if you feel a bit burned right now then pull up a stool to the CCF campfire and ask all the questions you want. The experts are here to share what they know with you. Please let us know how the PCGS 2nd opinion turns out. David

Thanks for the pricing info. The buy it now was actually $4,800 I believe. I do feel ripped but as a new collector my intelligence in coins is at fault. Should have known better but made a quick impulsive decision. I will hold out hope until PCGS gives final grade.

3 Day Return, Buyer pays shipping. Good Call! Before I do that, this coin is DEFINITELY NOT worth $465.00 is that everyone's opinion?
Tried to upload Super Size images but I guess the files are too big.

Send it back immediatly. I'm sure this has been a valuable learning lesson, we have all been there. Learning to grade does not come over night. Remember that grading is a subjective practice but put a true MS67 Morgan next to this one, and you will see the difference immediately. Check out the grading forum here, its a great area to learn and practice ;-) As stated, in the future, stick with PCGS,NGC,ANACS. These are reputable TPG'S (Third Party Grading services)
