1957-D Die Chip Near Mint Mark

im not sure what this is. it looks like it may be a chip, near the mint mark. it is about the shape of the inside of the "d" mint mark. opinions are appreciated. I don't know what this one is. by the way this is a 1957D thanks.

It appears to be the shape of a die chip. It's not something attached to the coin is it? Kind of unusual place for a chip? Is that a scratch flowing to the west of the area in question?

now I feel sillier than usual. I scratched is with my fingernail, and I moved. then I rubbed it with some pressure - and it REmoved.

I had a die variety expert send a coin to me one time that he thought was something major with the mintmark. I stuck it under a higher power scope to get a closer look, and it was just a fleck of metal in the mintmark. It happens to all of us at one point or another.
