would this be cinsidered a poors mans DDO, or MD or are they both the same. Sorry, pics still bad. Also, anyone know any good sights on the minting process? I would like to read up on what causes the different die varities.
The doubling you see on your coin is an effect that sometimes occurs from the plating. The metal flow into the numbers creates a ripple effect in the plating giving the doubled appearance. A "poor man's doubled die" is a marketing ploy on 1955 cents. The 1955 doubled die is the big one and cost alot of money. Someone noticed that in 1955 the cent dies were used longer than they should have and the result was Die Deterioration which shows among other areas on the last 5 of the date. There are alot of these so they were given a name and marketed. This is a different type of damage than your coin above.
