Hi all,

Here are some 1954 bills I have found recently and would appreciate help in grading. Fairly new to this, but I'm most interested in the grade of the $2 bill as its in the best shape.

Are they worth more than face value? I was told signatures are important too, although which ones are more valuable I do not know.. cheers.

posting both small and large picture

Never mind the $2.00, you've got a 'Devils Face' $20.00

Nice one..

Hello, and welcome to the forum vinnycoin!

Looking at your notes, most look to be in roughly VF condition. Some possibly a little better some possibly a little worse. Its hard to tell without seeing close pictures of the front and back of each note. Most of the notes are quite common in the group you have.

Here are the prices from the Charlton Standard Catalogue 23rd edition (2011).
*Keep in mind, this is only a guide and in the real world, people usually don't pay top dollar, unless the note is rare.

$1 *H/F: This note is one of the few, that might be an EF. So here are the prices for VF and EF. (80,000 printed, but still readily available.)
VF: $75
EF: $175

$2 N/G: Another that may be an EF. This is a very common note
VF: $3
EF: $4

$10 K/D: This is a very common note.
VF: $16

$20 Devils Head C/E
VF: $55

$50 A/H: Looks to be in F grade, based on pictures. This one is only worth face value, you might get a few extra bucks on ebay.
F: $50

$100 A/J: This is another very common note.
VF: $120

Here is a little info on the Devils Head note, in case you were interested.

In 1954 When the Canadian Government released the new 1954 notes into circulation there were complaints that the "Devils Head" could be seen in the Queens hair. Later, in 1956 the Canadian Government released a new set of 1954 notes into circulation, with the "Modified" hair. These modified notes were printed until the new series replaced it. (The new series was the Multicolored Series).

"Devils Head" is highlighted on the left and "Modified" is on the right.

Thanks banknotes!

I read up on the devils head right after posting this. Have quite a few of these but these are the ones in the best condition. Thanks for your help!

Btw, is there a list somewhere that points out valuable paperbills? i.e year/errors? Have quite a few, although not in as good condition.

cheers,

The Charlton Standard Catalogue 23rd edition (2011) lists errors in the back of the book. If you post images of them on here, I could probably tell you a value.
