I've looked on a few other sites and can't find anything.

I found a 1988 LMC, roll searching, turned it over to check for the serif on the "G".

Much to my surprise, there was no FG.

After looking through a 10X glass at it, the FG is there but EXTREMELY faint to non-existent. The corner of the Memorial and the rim (edge) of the coin show no wear.

Has anybody heard of this before?

I found one just like it...but under my little microscope...it's there. There was more "G" than the "F". Maybe you found the one I threw back into circulation.

And, yepper, there was no wear on the rim or the memorial. I was thinking right with you on this.

It's a Grease Filled Die issue or an over polished die. It happens and no extra premium for these. IMOHO

It's still cool that when when you're looking for a certain thing...it ain't there at all....kinda opens your eyes a bit!
