Rare coins of Raleigh. I was helped by a wonderful, knowledgeable, polite young woman named Stacy. She made the experience fun, explained everything she was doing, ( I took some old gold jewelry too), looked my collection over and told me it was a very nice start. She told me what everything was worth in her opinion, and checked for the info she didn't have. we were locked in, and no other coins were in the room. I had the best time! and it might be the first time I walked out of a store with more money than I came in with, ha ha. So glad I went and thanks to those of you who strongly suggested it.

good for you Sunny I am glad you found a coin guy as opposed to a con guy. I have a dealer about 60 miles away that is an actual coin dealer. However, I have found a bullion dealer about 20 miles away that doesn't check coins for their numismatic value, he just sells at spot...sometimes below. Found some deals from him in just two weeks

I'm also in North Carolina. My first experience with a dealer was great, the second dealer I went to was horrible (both in the same city, won't name names), and my current local B&M (since moved to a new city) is AWESOME. Makes me feel comfortable, always has great inventory and decent prices.
NC is actually a pretty good place to collect coins. Too bad there are no major shows anywhere near us.

Usually you would want to try a place more than once. Regardless of who you are, eveyone has a bad day. You could walk into a store right after a massive divorse fight and under some of those situations, you really couldn't expect the greatest of customer services.

Today I just visited a coin store for the first time about 15 miles from me. I went there due to the owner at a coin show told me he had lots of pages for Whitman Alabums and just wanted to get rid of them. This is a deeler that for some reason I've never purchased anything from although I have looked at his tables. As I walked in I was greeted by him right away as HI, hey glad to see you again. And the store was rather full of other customers too. Then a person that works for him at the shows and at the store also chimed in with nice of you to stop by our store. I almost felt like they thought I was someone else. Even a few of the customers smiled and said hello. And this made me want to buy something, anything to make up for that great greeting. I received about 5 Whitman Album pages I needed for Roosevelt dimes for Free. This too made me want to buy some coins, any coins. And now I just have to go back again in the future to see if I was just imagining this all.

A young woman working in a coin store? WOW. Not so lucky here the average age of dealers is about 77...

just had a very good experience with my dealer today, he had 5 1oz Engelhard bars, and a roll of 64 unc quarters that he gave me for spot and even threw in a 1937 5 reichsmark for free
