I always put up any older {funny to say that now} bills, old style of modern day I guess. I started back when they first started changing the look, back when there were still plenty out there. The only reason was just to remember how they looked when I was growing up and sure enough, you hardly see any now a days. When you do now they look funny {not really that long ago} that we all used them and now they are nearly extinct from circualtion. I have 2 picture frames, one has a $2, $5, $10 and the other has a $20, $50, $100 inside hanging up on my wall which I did before the $5 and $10 bills changed. Now I am so glad I did. I have only 2 $100 { wish I could have afford to put up 100 or so but who doesn't?} and only one $50, and more of the lesser bills. So about 10 years ago I started putting away the nicer ones I found that I could afford to at the time. Belive it or not, the ones in my display are the ones that look the less circulated and they are a 1981 $50, 1981 $20, a 1977 $10, and 1990 $5 which I recently replaced with a 1963 I got a few years back. All these were in better circulated condition than the newer ones of the late 90s and early 00s. The newer ones were more folded and creased. If you can afford to hold on to it another 10 years then do so and wait and see, it is only a $10 bill and it will always be worth at least that. Great find BTW, Tony

I am shocked that no one has said he should be honest and return the 10 dollars to its rightful owner

I am curious Frazzle - Who do you think the rightful owner is?

People still have the ability to amaze me. One day when I was working a teen aged boy came to me and said "if I found money on the floor do I turn it in to you?" I told him yes expecting to see a $1 or a $5, instead he hands me a $100 dollar bill. Shocked the heck out of me, but I got his name and phone number just in case no one claimed it and told him I would see that he gets it if not.

Well about 10 minutes later a guy comes up to the counter on the verge of tears saying he lost a $100 bill and was asking if anyone had turned one in. Being the mean individual I am I said "the odds of someone turning in something like that would be pretty slim." His shoulders shrank and he exhaled sharply.

"This must be your lucky day" I told him and handed the note to him. I also pointed to the kid who had turned it in and told him he needed to go thank him. The guy asked for change for the hundred and then went over and gave the kid $10.

Yes,I WAS being sarcastic and in no way criticizing the poster on his good fortune!!

I used to work with a guy who told me,that after his aunt died, his family went through her belongings and found money hidden in every book she had....I guess she didnt believe in banks!

Frazzle ... sorry I didn't catch your sarcasm .. I have been on sites where members think you should search
endlessly for the owner of anything you find.

In many cases, if I knew for sure who the owner is I would return things like this. In this case I know it was not either of the two guys that work at that shop.

Thanks for the reminder,I save bills in books too, mostly to straighten them out,I dislike crumpled bills they do not fit neatly in my wallet.I will now spend some time book searching and rearranging my book shelves. gasman96
