Local coin shop got in, a box of old coin books. They told me I could
have any of the old blue books for $1.00 each. I picked out a 1968 and a 1970.

When I got home I was surprised to find a 1950 E 10 dollar bill
Is seems in pretty good shape, no folds, holes. There is a few
small stains, that show up better in the pictures than in hand.

I do not have any guides for currency. Is there any real value
to something like this.

Of course there is value to old notes. You aren't going to get rich, but I would say that note may be worth $15 to $20.

Not bad for your $2 investment.

Thanks guys .. it really did not hurt at all finding it .. it sort of made me jump
when I was flipping through the pages ...

I would be happy with it being worth just the $10.00 ..

I guess I was not sure .. if is something to save
or just spend it ..

Sorry .. that was a stupid question .. you did say it might be worth 15 to 20 dollars ..

Would you say, that is a amount it could sell for .. or just a book value.

It is not a big deal .. I just if I have something I like to know what it is worth

Go get the rest of them before they are gone! Could be more hidden inside those.

1950 series is a collectible note. Notes are generally worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I could see it going for that amount if the condition is good and it looks like yours is.

I have found around ten 1950 series notes in circulation, some 5, 10, and 20's. All to me are valuable as a collectors item even if they aren't really valuable. Collecting is more about the intrinsic value than a monetary value.

Don't get me wrong, collecting is from the heart, but money is nice too and I understand the need to evaluate a find.

I was thinking the same thing.. there were about 10 more(different years) of the same book. I may have to go back and check them out .. But I am not sure what I would do, the one I got today I did not know the $10 was there .. going back and getting the others .. might want to tell them... if money was in them .. But I do know the dealer was given the box of books and he is just selling them cheap to good customers. Of course the one today is just a ten .. might just leave it in the book .. for the good story ..

Nickelman
Thank you .. really .. for all the good information.

Wild Bill .. I had no idea the exchange rate was that bad ..
How times have changed when I was a kid .. growing up in Michigan .. my father would take us to Canada because it was cheaper there.

Banknotes in books?

I was an executor to the estate of an uncle. I found that he did not trust banks, and he liked to have cash on hand. After he died, I found a $5 note hidden in a book, then another, then another. I had to commit myself to checking all of his books, about 300 in number. After checking every page of every book, I recovered over $2,500.

About half of the notes, which were all common, were crisp flat uncirculated and up to 30 years old. I also recovered about $300 in coins, mainly platypus 20 cent pieces.
