Oh pooh...I'm just not using the right words lately! Swindled as in purchased believing it to be a Proof. I think that the seller was fair and did not know what he/she was selling because of lack of knowledge not intent. $10 is great and it's definitely a keeper. Sorry Ralph, I just didn't explain what I meant well at all. I need a nap!

Okay, now I really am wondering if what I have is a real ASE, or a tribute. You say the uncirculated coins were not issued in special boxes, but, I'm curious why anyone would make a tribute coin to one with no more value than the 1998 ASE.
I took some pics with my webcam to show the difference between the proof packaging and the packaging this coin came in. Not real good pictures, but I'm merely trying to show the difference in the packaging. Also took a scan of the certificate of Authenticity that came with the coin. Sooooooo... is it real, or is it memorex?

That's exactly how my proof ASE 2006 came from the Mint.

All of my proof ASEs have come in the same type of packaging - only difference being the boxes for the early proof ASEs is maroon, and the latter is blue.
This uncirculated ASE came in the shorter, thicker box - different in every way, and, since the mint doesn't ship the unc ASEs in special packaging, I'm wondering if maybe I didn't get swindled after all.
