My original msg was about the latest box of pennies I bought. In the box, right off, I found a 2000 Wide AM. Then I found not one but two 1984 double die cents. Which I will also provide pictures of. Lastly I found this 2006 LMC with a "O" as a mintmark. It is not raised like a regular MM and it almost looks like it was a cutout and then pasted in. If you look closely you will see that around the mint mark the copper is a lighter color. OK guys, tell me what you think. Also what condition do my 84's look to be in?

I am with biokemist6 on this.... probably either zinc protrusion, or some other chemical reaction to the copper..... it is definitely no mint mark though.

In the original post, I postulated that the purported mintmark was either a zinc zit or corrosion spot. Now that I see it, it is a corrosion spot and perfectly round because it would have been caused by a droplet of an unknown liquid.

If I remember correctly, the mintmarks were on the hub on 2006, so such a mistake would be impossible. Not to mention--no Lincoln Cent has bore a mintmark other than P, D, or S--correct? I'm sure the Mint does not carry an A-Z set of mintmarks--just being facetious here.

That doesn't even come close to looking like a mintmark.

A corrosion spot, in the copper not the zinc.

Reminds me of a Lincoln I found with what looked as if someone made a metal mold of one of those terrible tasting little "I love you" hearts and pressed it into the coin or poured some kind of acid on it. Wish I still had it, dismissed when I first found it.

It is possibly a dropped letter. Maybe the O from One Cent.

What if you were to take a 20x magnifier to it? I'm sure you'll notice it's not any type of mint mark. Just from the pictures it doesn't come remotely close to a mint mark, but good eye though!!
