I would expect to pay between $275-$350 retail for that note. If it's as nice in hand, as it appears in the pictures, probably towards the upper side of that.
It's a very nice piece!

I had asked about that turned suffix previously on these forums. It seems to haunt all those A block notes for that series. One would think they would have stopped the machinery and corrected it. Here is another example many serial numbers away from yours to show what I mean.

First post other than in the welcome forum. I am still trying to figure out how to use Dropbox to show an image on the site. I know that this bill isn't in great shape, but does the fact that the 'A' is inline with the other characters in the serial make it more valuable? I can read John Burke's name, but what is the name on the left?

Morpheus,
I can't see the photo of your bill. You can upload photos directly to the forum but they have to be under 100KB in size.

Hi Albert,
I would agree with Jmerrick's pricing as that it a very nice 1917 $1 legal tender. I would say its around AU condition as I don't see any hard folds and there might be handling marks while the top margin is not quite perfect.
Morpheus, Looking forward to seeing your note also.

If you right click on the icon, and 'View Image' you can see it. I read on here that you guys use a tool to resize your images, but I was going for better quality. I will resize the image, and post both back and front when I get home from work.

Looks to be the signature of Elliott/Burke. Condition is quite rough indeed. Looks to be in Good+ condition and Its worth perhaps $40-$50 at most.

Yes, it is a Elliott & Burke Note. The bill is common and in this condition maximum $30 worth. Maybe you get more on ebay.

To my uneducated eye, I would think that it would fetch $100+...if it is aunthentic.

I appreciate the responses. I really only asked because zeewool had said "Try to find one where the A suffix is not raised.... (I'll bet you can't)." I thought since I had one where the 'A' was not raised that it might be more valuable.

Here are some bills on E-bay with the letter inline with the rest of the serial. One of the bills is much nicer than mine, the opening bid is $80, with 0 bids. There is another similar to mine with an opening bid of $19.99, 0 bids.
Next time I will look there first. I'm learning!
