Just looking over this coin on a scan(first attemp on a scan) and looked over at vamworld. Does this look like a vam4 (far over date)?

Anyway, this is my first shot at "vam'ing" a coin, so if I'm on the right track, just let me know. Anyone think I am on the ball with this one?

you are correct in assuming at first its a very far date, how ever VAM 4 lists no doubling,, "Take a close up of the ear"...as with the 1889 series there are many doubled ear's...Then we can go from there...and Welcome!

The scanner itself might be contributing to the look of "doubling." Rescan the coin, rotated 90 degrees, and see if it still looks that way.

And try to post them "right side up." It hurts my neck to turn sideways to look at the coin.
