I just got this Lincoln from a roll. I thought it looked really funny when I first saw it. Then when I took a closer look I realized the date was half gone and "Liberty" was also half gone. All the other details are sharp. What causes this? A worn out die?   |

Struck through a Grease Filled Die. Usually it is small parts here and there. That's a pretty cool one. Is there anything going on with LIBERTY and IN GOD otherwise? Looks interesting from way over here.  |

All the details on the reverse are sharp.
The "LIB" is gone and the last digit of the date is gone. Maybe a 1994?
There is a very small part of the "D" mint mark showing.
I guess I have never seen one of these before.

Look at the rest LIBERTY - looks a little like the '95 DDO. Just want to confirm that before you toss it. |

Yes, what there is of "LIBERTY" sure does look funny. It looks fatter than the other letters and it might have some doubling.
I wish I could get a GOOD picture.

False alarm........no doubling. I guess I wanted it to be after it was brought up.
BUT the letters in LIBERTY are thicker.
Oh well.

A lot of the 95's have thicker letters on LIBERTY, not sure why, but it gets annoying when I'm looking for DDO's. I think I would be happy it wasn't a DDO, in this case it would only impair the value for most collectors. |
