I'm trying to find a valuation, and potential buyer for a set of 1977 Russian coins...Leningrad Mint, never in circulation. There are 9 coins in all. In original plastic case and paper cover/folder. Any advice/direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt

Hi Matt,
For some reason I don't have 1977 mint set in my catalog, but looking at other sets from that era, with the same number of coins, and taking into consideration that my catalog is a few years old, I'd say you could ask $15 - 20 for it. With that you could go on Craig's list or such.
On the other hand you could place it on ebay and see where the market demand takes it. You might get a few dollars more, you might get a few less.

I would list it on ebay with a starting bid of $14.99
See what happens.

And another opinion from an ebay buyer and seller.....I never start near full value....you'll lose out on the "greed factor" from those buyers that try to get a bargain, then can't stand to lose.I sometimes start my copper bullion at face value because it is a limited market, but everything else starts at $.99.
And when looking for a good snipe, I choose those that have higher starting prices because they don't attract many bidders.

I don't want to rain on any one's parade here but my 2010 Krause lists the 1977 set at $8 market value and a $11 issue price - not exactly the right direction.
But as someone pointed out, the potential buyer may be willing to pay more.
